Mission & Approach

“Throughout my life, helping others has always brought me the most satisfaction. Growing up I was drawn to medicine for this very reason. I aspired to help people improve the quality and length of their lives which led to a career in surgery. Surgery is a definitive treatment. Where possible, it can remove disease leaving the patient an opportunity to recover completely and move forward with their life.

In contrast, I also have enjoyed coaching people in their darkest times through situations that seem anything but definitive. Often, a single surgical solution is not all it takes. In these instances I assume the role of educator, helping a patient understand their condition, prognosis, treatment options and possible path forward.

I was trained as a general surgeon and then continued into a fellowship in endocrine surgery. For me, education is how I continue to learn and improve my skills every year. I regularly attend conferences and educational opportunities to update my knowledge. I strive to master new treatments and techniques to help more patients. In recent years I have added advanced wound care and certification in robotic surgery to my practice. I am always looking for ways to innovate and stay on the leading edge of surgery.

I want your decision to come to Wilmington Surgical Associates to be a comfortable and confident one. I am dedicated to surgical excellence in your diagnosis, treatment and follow up. I have been blessed with a wonderful family and will treat you the way I would want my family treated. That’s what I would want from my surgeon, and what you may expect from me.”

I only go for a once a year visit. I'm treated as if I'm a regular patient that comes often!

The gentleman that did my surgery, Mark forgot his last name but is amazing. He answered all my questions and explained everything to me in a friendly manner. He's truly amazing. I would have him as my permanent doctor if I could

Every staff member is friendly and professional. I enjoyed checking in with Robin. I was taken back by Alison who prepared me for the doctor. I was happy to see Dr. Versnik and Misty especially after a successful parathyroidectomy experience last year. Dr. Versnik was patient as usual, in answering my questions, and discussing my current health. And I checked out with Tammy and enjoyed discussing grandchildren with her. Thank you all and God bless you!
