Before going to UNC for my wife’s cancer surgery, we had met with Dr. Cortina and Byron and were assured that they would handle our case after surgery. I had no idea what the intensity of our needs would be. After several calls to the nursing station at UNC, our surgeon(s), the pharmacy, etc., we called Wilmington Surgical Associates. They asked us if we could come right in.
“We made it to the office and were graciously attended to by everyone, and they seemed to know we were scared to death. Dr. Cortina and Byron came in directly and assured us both that they would take on responsibility for part of our care and that they’d been and would stay in contact with the surgeon at UNC. They also assured us that we’d be okay. They stuck with us through to the present, being available even for the most simple assurances. They were our crutch in our time of greatest need, and we could not have received any better care, kindness or sincere friendship that we received from these great people.”
