Surgical Interests

Dr. Cortina has a special interest in patients with breast cancer disease.  As an oncoplastic surgeon, he takes both the medical and cosmetic outcomes into consideration.  This includes the patient's diagnosis, pathology, breast imaging studies, risk for recurrence and risk for developing cancer in the opposite breast.  Then the surgical approach is customized to optimize the aesthetic outcome without compromising the cancer treatment.

Dr. Cortina has specialized knowledge and experience relating to the diagnosis, preoperative, operative, postoperative and non-operative management of surgical problems in the following areas:  Minimally invasive surgery, hernia including complex and recurrent, gallbladder, thyroid, hyperhirosis (profuse sweating disorder), lung masses both benign and malignant, disphragm, skin cancer, soft tissue tumors, large and small bowel and anal disease.
