The Wilmington Vascular Center was one of the first accredited vascular laboratories in the United States and continues to hold accreditation from ICAVL, the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories. The Vascular Center was a pioneer in the noninvasive diagnosis of deep venous thrombosis in the area and along with the physicians at Wilmington Surgical Associates has promoted the noninvasive and outpatient management of deep venous thrombosis. The Vascular Center specializes in diagnosis and management of abdominal aortic aneurysms, noninvasive extremity arterial testing with and without exercise, the differential diagnosis of leg pain and claudication, preoperative assessments prior to orthopaedic and podiatric procedures, and carotid arterial evaluations in the prevention of stroke. Many evaluations are performed before and after arterial or venous surgery by one of our physicians.

VASCULAR TEAM PROFILES

James R. Morgan, M.S., R.V.T. has been technical director of Wilmington Vascular Center since he established the lab at Wilmington Surgical Associates in 1989. Mr. Morgan is a past president of the North Carolina Society of Registered Vascular Technologists. He serves on the faculty at the Center for Medical Ultrasound at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University.
